5 Ways to Enjoy Your Pool this Fall

OCTOBER IS HERE!

Now that fall is upon us, it is time to turn your pool area into an autumn hang out.  We are going to give you several great ways to enjoy your outdoor space long after the hot summer months. 

1)      FALL DECORATIONS

It’s time to decorate the area for the season.  Grab some pumpkins, hay bales and fall florals to add a touch of fall to the backyard.  Now, if you really want to get into the season Halloween skeletons, black lanterns and spooky ghosts can give you the eerie feel for an evening chilling by the pool.  We picked a few of our favorite looks on Pinterest simply click HERE.  (Our favorite is the skeletons sitting by the pool on the deck chairs)

2)      LIGHTING

One great, inexpensive way to change the look of your pool is with LED lighting. The lights will allow you to give your pool a glow with several different colors to choose from.  Ideas to consider – a bubbling green spa as a witch’s brew or an orange pumpkin glow that lights up the night.  For more details on LED lighting options click HERE.

3)      ADD WARMTH

An outdoor fire pit, gives you and your family a place to warm up and chat as well as roast marshmallows.  Just move your outdoor seating around, add some blankets and hot cocoa and enjoy a night under the stars.

Another great way to add warmth is with hot cocoa, hot cider or coffee.  Have a coffee night where you set up a bar cart outside with several warm liquid options – Keurig’s have tons of options.  Have a dish of mini marshmallows, some coffee flavorings, some biscotti and create an instant gathering.  If you really want to take it up a notch create your own specialty drink for the group and write down the drink on a chalkboard by the drink station. 

4)      TO SWIM OR NOT TO SWIM

Don’t let the chill in the air keep you from enjoying your pool, just plan ahead and heat up your pool.  Have a towel area near the side of the pool so that guests don’t get too cold getting out of the nice warm pool.  We are sure your friends will love having one last chance to enjoy the pool before the winter temperatures set in.

5)      DATE NIGHT

Turn your backyard into a romantic getaway.  Have a table set up for two with candles and champagne, plus your favorite dinner.  Add little white lights around the pool area, in the trees, around the fence and don’t forget the music.  Clear an area for a little dancing and finish off the evening with a lovely, after dinner drink as well as some kind of chocolatey dessert.  If you want to go up a notch give the pool a romantic glow – float magnolias or flowers in the pool or get some LED glow balls.  The Glow Balls are different colors and having several of them floating in the pool gives the area an elegant touch.   These ideas and more are available on our “Date Night” Pinterest board, just click HERE.
